WHAT IS A NETWORK OR IP ADDRESS?

A network or IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. It serves two main purposes: identifying the host or network interface and providing the location of the device in the network topology.

IP addresses are typically written in a format consisting of four sets of numbers separated by periods, such as "192.168.1.1". There are two primary types of IP addresses: IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) and IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6). IPv4 addresses are the older version and are still widely used, but IPv6 addresses are becoming more prevalent to accommodate the growing number of devices connected to the internet.
